ApacheCon NA 2013 Slides

I've not been able to locate slides for all the sessions I attended. There
does not seem to be a central repository, and while I've found many, some are
still elusive:

Matthew Steele -- SPDY in Apache Httpd
Noirin Plunkett -- Documentation: Don't Be Afraid
Rich Bowen - N things you did't know you could do with Apache HTTPD
						(says "coming soon")
Rainer Jung - Monitoring Apache Tomcat and the Apache Webserver
Alan Caroll - Transparent HTTP Proxying with Apache Traffic Server
Luke Kaines - Growing Authentic Communities
Noirin Plunkett - Text Lacks Empathy

Almost all of these presenters indicated their slides would be available
shortly after their presentations.

Thanks, Shane. Interesting stuff (I love histories!). Wish that
I had the independence to know I'd always be able to attend, perhaps
	you'd get that volunteer.....

Heh. We just barely have time to define it before Nick re-defines it...

Concom == Conferences Committee = the PMC (Project Management
Committee)(former!) that was responsible for organizing ApacheCon and
other kinds of events on behalf of the ASF. It's also shorthand for
"concom@", which means concom@apache.org, a privately archived mailing
list where conference things are decided. Except soon, we may be
changing all the mailing lists to simplify them...

Note that the board (i.e. the board of directors of the ASF) dissolved
the Concom PMC somewhat recently, so Nick soldiers on as VP, Conferences
for the ASF.

Information about Concom and events is still a little scattered, but
this is the best place to start:

   http://events.apache.org/

And occasionally useful information is on:
   http://www.apache.org/foundation/conferences.html
   http://wiki.apache.org/apachecon/FrontPage

The officer position of VP, Conferences was first created in 1999, right
when the ASF was founded:

http://www.apache.org/foundation/records/minutes/1999/board_minutes_1999_04_13.txt

At the risk of being considered someone who's volunteering, can
you define ConCom for us non- ASF members (since a google search on the
acronym yields lots of things that don't sound remotely like ASF or
	ApacheCon or SVN) ;-P

It's a svnpubsub site, so changes to the underlying SVN will go live
shortly afterwards, making changes (eg adding new slides) very quick

The base URL of the site (including HTML of many past events) is:
    https://svn.apache.org/repos/infra/apachecon/archive.apachecon.com

Currently, all ASF Members, and all members of ConCom are able to add
files in. Others can be added in too, but likely we'll take that sort of
volunteering as a sign that we should add you to ConCom ;-)

Should be there now, Wednesday hadn't been copied from that stick

I've also gone through the slides, trying to rename the files to have the
times, and often the titles. Now we just need volunteers to:
* Add the slide links to the Lanyrd coverage against each talk
* Add the slide links to the talk details page for each presentation
   (needs admin)

Are people able to help with these, especially the Lanyrd one?

Nick

is very much empty :(

Thanks for the tips, I've hopefully now done both. Do you think what we
now have is enough?

Thanks, Nick. What I'd found before asking was 3-fold:

	1) Lanyrd "Coverage"
	2) Explicit slides cited during the presentations
	3) http://eventifier.co/event/apachecon13/slides (citation in Lanyrd)

My suggestion: Put a NOTICEABLE link on the na.apachecon.com website.
The home page there doesn't seem to have been updated since Tuesday
evening. Maybe something on wiki.apache.org/apachecon/FrontPage, too.

Where would somebody not intimately active in the organization (e.g.,
I've only attended 4 events in the past 6 years) have come up with
looking at archive.apachecon.com ? I don't see any links to it on the
pages that I looked at [ admittedly I might have MISSED them ].

All slides should be available on
http://archive.apachecon.com/na2013/presentations/

If you find any that aren't on there, please let us know and we'll chase
those speakers

If you have good ideas for how to make the slides more easily found, and
especially if you'd be able to help, please let us know!

Nick
