Has the <security role="role"/> tag been replaced by the <security-ref
parent="x"/> tag?

How does updating the permissions for a particular role work?  (I can't get
it to.)

I've been able to restrict access to actions for portlets and customization
panes by defining a security-ref tag with the associated <access
action="action"> for the corresponding roles.  The permissions allowed on
the role via the role browser portlet don't seem to have any affect
whatsoever?

Any comments or help would be appreciated.
