[users@httpd] Apache + Tomcat + MOD_JK
Hello,
I am using Apache 2.0.47 and Tomcat 4.1.27 on SuSE 8.0 box on same machine.
I am trying to make use of MOD_JK.SO (jk connector)which I build it from
source.
I have 2 different Users to the system "httpd" and "jakarta" with respective
directories as /usr/local/httpd and /usr/local/jakarta
/usr/local/httpd has httpd:httpd as owner and group
/usr/local/jakarta has jakarta:jakarta as owner and group
I have following files:
FILENAME OWNER GROUP DIRECTORY
---------------------------------------------------------
workers.properties jakarta jakarta /usr/local/jakarta/conf/jk/
server.xml jakarta jakarta /usr/local/jakarta/conf/
mod_jk.so httpd httpd /usr/local/httpd/modules/
mod_jk.log jakarta jakarta /usr/local/jakarta/logs
I was wondering if the above files are placed under the correct directories
and if there would be any issues as far as RIGHTS/PERMISSIONS are concerned.
EXAMPLE: MOD_JK.LOG is placed under jakarta directory....and so Apache would
NOT be able to write (if it needs to)
same thing applies to MOD_JK.SO.
Any realted information on above is appreciated.
HARI OM

[users@httpd] apache/web site question...
Posted by bruce <be...@earthlink.net>.
hi...
a very basic (i hope) question...
i know i can have a web page that uses PHP/ASP/Etc... and i can do a kind of
include, such that i can incorporate content/text from another file. i'm
curious to know if there is a way to do that such that i can incorporate
text from a file on another server on a separate domain/IP address???
any examples/sample pages demonstrating this would be helpful!!!
I would like to be able to accomplish this from within the apache httpd.conf
file if possible, where i simply define a website/page and the httpd.conf
directive points to the file on the separate PC..... If this isn't possible,
I'll take the PHP/ASP/Etc.. approach where I can include a file that resides
on another completely different server/PC...
thanks...

Hari:
File names and locations look okay; they need to be world readable.
Apache does not write to the mod_jk log. Your tomcat log directory is
the correct location for it.
A better place for your questions might be the tomcat users mailing list
(tomcat-user-subscribe@jakarta.apache.org).
