cordova platform add ios && cordova plugin add <plugin>
gives:
 An error occured during plugin installation for ios. does not appear to be a PhoneGap project

In case that helps ,  
After some investigation I noticed adding the same plugin using plugman 0.5.6 (latest) works. 
Plugman 0.5.5 still looks for Cordova.plist during plugin installation and fails if not found.
