breautek opened a new issue #1200:
URL: https://github.com/apache/cordova-docs/issues/1200

From a recent PMC email notice:

   >IMPORTANT: PMCs who list "powered by" companies on their Project sites (organizations that are using your project --in their products/solutions or otherwise) MUST NOT BE DOING SO ON THE PROJECT HOME PAGE.

   >WHY: the ASF is strictly vendor-neutral. Listing company names and/or logos on a project's home page is disallowed as it can imply "ownership" or preferred status or otherwise imbalanced relationship. Whether this is the case or not, it is not acceptable. The policy is the same as "thanking" companies for their support of a project http://apache.org/foundation/marks/linking#projectthanks

   >WHAT WE'RE NOT SAYING: please don't misunderstand the "no third party logos on your homepage" policy. We *love* projects promoting their users! Many of you have commented that we always include user organizations in our press releases --one of the first things that members of the media and analyst community ask is, "who uses you?". We're proud of all our projects and your collective efforts: we want to ensure that everyone is being fairly represented and considered.

Cordova is explicitly listed as an offender of this policy. I believe both "Cordova Tools" and "Cordova App Showcase" are the problematic sections.

As outlined in the email, having these sections is okay, but they must not be on the homepage.

So the question is do we keep it, and if so, where do we move it? Sally does encourage having this "who uses us" list, so i think it is a good idea to keep it, we just need to decide where is the best place to move it.

I was just about to open the same issue and I am not sure if I would remove these links or keep them.

At least the "App Showcase" list should be checked before moving as some of the apps are dead and others might have stopped using Cordova (I think Sworkit switched to Capacitor).

Yah I clicked on a couple of App links last night and I know there is at least one that leads to a 404. I think we can clean up some of these third party links and remove the dead ones.

   > I was just about to open the same issue and I am not sure if I would remove these links or keep them.

I've gave it a little bit more thought since last night. The problem is the Cordova website is pretty simple. We have the following pages:
   - Home
   - Documentation
   - Plugins
   - Blog
   - Contribute
   - Team
   - Get Started

Obviously we cannot keep it on Home, but I feel like none of the other pages is a good fit. Cordova tooling I guess could be inside Documentation under a "Third Party" section, but the app showcase I'm not sure where would be the best fit.

Perhaps we can remove the App showcase. That is quite difficult to maintain, and it's unrealistic to rely on developers of these apps to remove their entry if they decided to migrate away from Cordova (why would they even bother? They get free publicity). Cordova tooling however is a bit easier to verify the relevance to Cordova and I think we have a good existing spot where we can move this to.

This weekend, I'll try to prepare a PR that we can nitpick. I'll probably comment out/scrap the app showcase. I'll build a new Third party tooling page inside documentation. With text stating that these are third-party frameworks/tooling that might help you to develop apps with Cordova with mumbo-jumbo text stating that the tooling is maintained by third-parties/communities, kinda like how [ThreeJS](https://threejs.org/docs/index.html#manual/en/introduction/Libraries-and-Plugins) does their external libaries docs
