No released version does, no.  Thus, all the problems and confusion.

FYI, acccording to the Xerces list (the incompatibility was actually in
Xerces, not Xalan, per se), a fix has just been checked in for both Xerces
1 and 2 on 2/2/01 to address this limitation.  I haven't tested it yet.
