[Bug 120802] New: Failure to calculate formula in spreadsheet
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=120802
Priority: P3
Bug ID: 120802
Assignee: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Summary: Failure to calculate formula in spreadsheet
Severity: normal
Issue Type: DEFECT
Classification: Application
OS: Windows 7
Reporter: njbellord@gmail.com
Hardware: PC
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: AOO 3.4.1
Component: editing
Product: spreadsheet
I am using the spreadsheet to keep accounts. Items are in column E and a
running new balance is kept in column F.
So the standard formula entered in column F is to add the previous balance in
the cell immediately above to the new item in column E. e.g. in cell F5 the
formula is F4+E5.
This works fine until you get to cell F924 where the formula is F923+E924 and
it fails, displaying #VALUE!
It all worked fine under the previous release and the bug has only appeared in
3.4.1. I had already entered data on row 924 and onwards in the previous
release and only after loading the new release did things go wrong.
It seems to be a fault that happens all along row 924 onwards i.e. is not
peculiar to any particular column.

Sorry I see that this was not a bug after all. An invisible non-numeric
character in E924 caused this behaviour.
