Which is current code base for hadoop-common?

Hello,

I am new to the hadoop community and am looking to make some contribution
to hadoop-common and security.

I notice there are two active "tracks" - 0.20.20x and 0.23, 0.24.

Can someone suggest which of these tracks I should be contributing to?

Thanks,
Kumar

Good question, this is covered on this page:
http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/Roadmap
In short 0.20.20x are the current, stable sustaining releases. 0.24 will be
the next major release (after the 0.23 release which is in progress).

Thanks,
Eli

Thanks Eli,

I had another related question -- What is the difference between
release/version 0.20.205 and the current trunk (which appears to me to be
at 0.24)?

Hey Kumar,

Welcome! Check out this page:

The short is answer is that you should contribute to trunk, and
depending on the change it may be merged into the appropriate release
branch.

Thanks,
Eli
