[~phrocker]: I think this issue is pretty old and not valid any more. 
I tried to reproduce, but there was no exception thrown in case either the source or the destination ID was incorrect for a connection. 
The flowfiles were not delivered and errors appeared in log, but MiNiFi kept running.
