Resource Specs

Is there any place listing what hardware various ActiveMQ configurations
require? How many users you can support, etc?

No; it totally depends on what your doing...
http://activemq.apache.org/performance.html

generally its usually down to just making sure you've enough RAM and
have enough brokers for your client base. Also making sure you've
enough sockets available for the broker (file descriptor liimits on
unix) which is more to do with OS configuration than hardware
