Speed

Hi all,
    I've been using fop for about a month, it's really great to have a free
tool like this !!
    As I'm generating pdf documents from a servlet using tomcat, the
response time is quite slow...is it possible to use the C version of xalan
and xerces to improve the speed ? if so, how can I do that ?
