FW: [OFFER] Offer to Mentor one or two podlings

Hi all,

I came here by Johns mail and just had a Quick look over the homepage.
The project looks very interesting and useful.
But one question I have is, is there a clear differentiation between tamaya and other frameworks like Apache Commons Configuration (or others).

Thanks already for the response!
Julian

    Julian,

Apache Tamaya could use help. My activity has been reduced pretty heavily as of late.

Julian,

Thanks for your interest in mentioning.
I also haven't had a chance to help with too many parts of Tamaya except
for a bit of HOCOM aspects, as I have duties in other Open Source
communities like the JCP or Eclipse (Jakarta EE)

One major difference is, that Tamaya adds more support for distributed
configuration like Spring Cloud or Netflix Archaius. Which is no longer
actively maintained but it used Commons Config under the hood.
Something Tamaya also could do in a similar way, there could even be a
Sandbox effort for it.
As of now I don't think this cloud configuration with multiple distributed
sources is in scope for Commons Config. And as long as this does not change
it makes Tamaya an effort worth persuing as long as enough people can help.

Regards,
Werner
