The instructions are the same as upgrading: http://archiva.apache.org/docs/1.3.5/adminguide/upgrade.html

The only catch is that if you change the installation location, you may need to edit some paths in conf/archiva.xml.

Please refer further questions to the users@archiva.apache.org list - the issue tracker is for handling bugs.
