Subject: Re: Jenkins build is back to normal : Pivot-trunk on Java 7 #1232
Hi all,
just re-created a Jenkins Job for building Pivot maintenance (2.0.x) with Java 7:
https://builds.apache.org/job/Pivot-maintenance%20on%20Java%207/
Note that existing (original) task:
https://builds.apache.org/job/Pivot-maintenance/
is built with latest Java 6 ... if needed I can rename it to have more evidence the Java release used.
As promised, the build of trunk with Java 7 has been disabled:
https://builds.apache.org/user/smartini/my-views/view/Pivot/job/Pivot-trunk%20on%20Java%207/
Just for info, when creating a new job in Jenkins it's simple to use an existing job as a skeleton (I didn't remember this) :-) ...
Roger, one last thing: on the migration of requirements to Java 8 (for trunk), could you add a JIRA issue (linked to 2.1.0) so we can track it in release notes ?
Bye,
Sandro

Yes, that would be great!
Can you setup a Java 6 build for "maintenance" too?
There should already be one for 2.0.x if I remember well ... anyway I'll
check even this 😆

Sorry a last thing:
we should change build files, README, BUILD and maybe other files saying
that on trunk now we require Java 8.
I can do it during the week-end if needed.

Ciao Roger,
ok tomorrow I'll disable the build of trunk on Java 7 (and try with Java 9
latest beta just to start to take a look), and add one for Java 7 for 2.0.x
...
I'll post an update here with related links.
Bye,
Sandro

Okay, I'm about ready to commit changes to "trunk" to require Java 1.8,
so this 1.7 build will have to be disabled.... I don't know how/where to
do that... Sandro?
Thanks,
~Roger
P.S. As I said earlier, I think the 2.0.x branch ought to be building
with 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 for completeness, while "trunk" should only be
building with 1.8 (now), so we can require 1.8 there..... Thoughts?
