[codec] Feature request

Hi all,
    I need to convert a String to its Java Unicode escape
sequence(\uxxxx). I need to do this im my patch(enhancement) to
Struts. I couldn't find an Apache licenced utility for it. So if
anyone could write one it will be very useful to me.
