   I am just guessing here but gcc 7.4 seems to be missing some parts of template  argument deduction https://gcc.gnu.org/projects/cxx-status.html#cxx17 gcc 8 should therefor work. can you test it?
   
   We specify 7.1 in the docs but that is likely outdated with the introduction of the recent format/type additions.
