Being able to post and reveice email notification to subscribed posts

Hi all,

I've read http://camel.apache.org/discussion-forums.html and
http://camel.apache.org/mailing-lists.html and even subscribed to
users-subscribe@camel.apache.org, but the matter still looks crypto more or
less to me.

Very simple question: I want to be able to freely post to this forum and get
email notification if somebody replies to the topic I am subscribed to (god,
not for all topics on the forum!). Is it possible to accomplish this with
all that Nabble and mailing lists? :)

How did you subscribe? Did u do it from camel nabble site? That would send a conformation email to your inbox which has a link to confirm your membership.

Hello Reji!

This is not the case. A lot of your messages has to be moderates in the
past days.
I checked it again, and you are not subscribed to the Camel user list or
the Camel dev list (at least with this e-mail address).
Check out [1] how to subscribe to these lists.

Hi Claus

I have an issue here.
When I reply to any post via email, it goes to the emailing list without
moderators intervention. But the replies on that post never comes to my
email.
Can I set "Alert me by email when someone posts to this thread" option when
I send posts via my Emails?

On the other hand if i post the same from Nabble webpage, I have option to
tick the checkbox "Alert me by email when someone posts to this thread" and
hence I get all posts related to current post. But it goes via the
moderator!

Could you help me with this?

Thanks for the explanation, but it would be much more convenient for me to
check unresolved topics which are out of my scope when I have time and not
to get emails for every reply :)

P.S. On top of the
http://camel.465427.n5.nabble.com/Camel-Users-f465428.html I found "This
forum is an archive for the mailing list users@camel.apache.org (more
options)" with link to
http://camel.465427.n5.nabble.com/mailing_list/MailingListOptions.jtp?forum=465428
where it is written "Your subscription will be with email delivery turned
off, so you can post messages without having to receive all list emails" -
would this accomplish what I want? I clicked on the button, got confirm
"subscribe to users@camel.apache.org" email, replied to it, but strangely
haven't got any "WELCOME to users@camel.apache.org" email I used to get
before.

This is how we work in the ASF - with mailing lists. You can subscribe to the
lists you are interested in it and follow the discussions.

Nabble != ASF mailing list. Therefor, the ASF mailing list doesn't know
whether you are an registered user on Nabble or not.

Nabble is only one of the discussion forums which is kind like subscribed to
our mailing list. You can find your post on many more places like the mail
archive [1] and so on...

Reading questions from other users and of course the responses will also
help you to be a more experienced Camel developer in the future. If this is
you goal, you should consider subscribing to the mailing list (and may help
other users in the future - this is how open source works...).

I understand, but isn't it kind of strange to ask regular users to subscribe
for all the notifications about camel? Can't posts from users registered an
Nabble moderated automatically? Why the mailing list is needed anyway if one
can simply subscribe for the whole forum?

That's true. Your mail will not be forwarded to the mailing list until one of
the forum moderators moderate your mail. This may take a while and cost a
bit of time from the moderators... That's why we don't prefer this way and
ask the users to subscribe to the mailing list.

Re: Being able to post and reveice email notification to subscribed posts

Hi Christian, thanks a lot, that's probably what I was looking for.

So I unsubscribed from users@camel.apache.org and confirmed it. I already
have Nabble account (I am able to login to
http://camel.465427.n5.nabble.com/Camel-Users-f465428.html with it) and I
clicked "Options -> Subscribe via email" in the upper right corner of the
post.

Maybe there would be a good idea to write this simple instruction in plain
text in http://camel.apache.org/discussion-forums.html? That's actually what
common users need, but the page looks quite confusing when you try to figure
out how actually do it.

P.S. Ah, read once again "you have to be a subscriber of the Camel
mailinglist to be able to post on the user forum (Nabble) and have those
posts forwarded to the Camel mailinglist. It's on the Camel mailinglist
where all the experts is listening and will be able to help you. If you are
not a subscriber your post will not be forwarded and thus most people will
not see your post" - so does it still mean that my replies will not be
posted on forum correctly using your suggested solution? Still a bit
confused :(

Unsubscribe from the Camel mailing list.
Create an Account on Nabble (if you don't have one already).
Post you question via Nabble (
http://camel.465427.n5.nabble.com/Camel-Users-f465428.html) and check the
box "Alert me by email when someone posts to this thread".
That's all.

Thanks for your answer Claus, but I didn't want to use any mailing lists in
the first place, I am a camel user, I want to post my question, get answers
and reply, I obviously don't want to get tons of emails about all camel
issues around there, that doesn't make any sence!

Once again, let's forget about mailing lists, there is this forum - is there
any way for me to be able to post/reply and get any kind of notifications
when somebody replies to my posts or posts I replied to without using all
those mailing lists? Anything - internal inbox or whatever.

P.S. What is ASF?

No not at ASF.

This is not how a mailing list works. You get every mail, or you can
chose to get a digest of all daily or weekly mails. A mailing list is
not a forum, where you can get notifications on certain topics only.
If you want this look for alternatives like stackoverflow or what else
is out there.

ASF does not have a forum for its projects - all ASF offers is a mailing list.

You are not subscribed to the users@ list with this e-mail address. But
there is a cryptic xxx@nabble.com e-mail address which is may created by
Nabble instead.

Hi James, thanks for answer. It looks like now I only get notifications for
topics I am subscribed to. Does one still have to moderate my posts?

I don't think it's possible. You could alternatively subscribe to the
'digest' notifications (once per day). Send an email to
users-help@camel.apache.org to get instructions on how to do that.

Hi, thanks for answer.

I've sent an email to users-subscribe@camel.apache.org and got confirmation
link. After that I keep receiving emails about replies to posts I didn't
know exist.

I want to be able to freely post to this forum and get email notification if
somebody replies TO THE TOPIC I'VE CREATED OR REPLIED TO, but not for all
topics/replies on the forum!. Is it possible?
