Performance of user-role awareness

Dear All,

Anybody tried to use the User-role awareness in prod?

Our client is asking for user-role awareness on every button, field etc (about
400 items) and every button, field should have a different role, so that they
can still attach user-roles to groups and users, thus changing the behavior of
the application without changing the code of application.

What do you think about performance of this kind of setup?

Nb. I'm using WebSphere 6.0
