Alan Hancock [November 14, 2013]
AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev. 1524958
Windows 7

I was able to reproduce the bug with the following steps:

1. Open a blank document in Writer.
2. Type in a few lines of text (such as “test”).
3. Highlight all of the text and turn on Numbering or Bullets.
4. Open the Bullets and Numbering dialog menu, move over to Position.
5. Alter any value in that tab and hit ENTER.

I found that any of the values on this tab worked similarly to the initial
report. As in Comment 4, I suspect this implies the issue lies in the action of
hitting ENTER does not call for the saving of the data in the boxes. I tested
by “clicking” OK, and the data was saved appropriately.

This bug is important to resolve in convenience only. It should be fixed as its
behavior does not match common practices, but there is an easy work-around by
clicking the OK button as opposed to the reliance on ENTER.

Zach Randolph 11/14/13:

Replicated as in description. Confirmed that comment 3, using the arrow buttons
instead of entering text, works.
Additional testing reveals that clicking into a different text box before
pressing enter will cause the text to update properly. This suggests that
hitting the enter button does not call the form to read the currently selected
entry and update it's stored values, only deselecting the text box does.

Rob Brunner, 11/6/2013:
OpenOffice Version 4.0.1
OS: Windows 8

I can confirm that this is an issue. After testing, I can add that if the
arrows for the input field in the "Bullets and Numbering" window (the arrows to
the right of the input boxes) are used instead of typing and the Enter button
is pressed to confirm, the window closes and the text formatting is updated
properly.
