REPORT forbidden?

what could cause the following error?

$ svn up
svn: RA layer request failed
svn: REPORT request failed on /repos/svn/trunk
svn: REPORT of /repos/svn/trunk: 403 Forbidden

$ svn --version
svn, version 0.17.1 (dev build)

it seems to be done by a recent change in the last week or so.

i tried with neon 23.5, 23.7.

Solo,

Perhaps you didn't realize that [default] is now [global]
(hence the reference to the CHANGES file).

So if you failed to change that then your proxy settings aren't being
applied (hence the reference to the proxy section of the FAQ).

What are you talking about, solo?

Did you read the proxy FAQ, as Sander suggested?

Your error sounds exactly like what happens when you're behind a proxy
that is ignorant of WebDAV http requests.

i don't understand fully. there was nothing in the "CHANGES" file. it
just stopped working by itself sometimes last week. we do an update
from time to time (maybe every 2 days), recompile, update, etc.

Wild guess: you're behind a proxy and _that_ changed.
