jetspeed context

Can anybody tell me, how the jetspeed context works? I want to write some objects to the context and use them in another portlet. Has each portlet its own context or is it possible, to "send" data to another portlet. I can remember a similar question one or two weeks ago, but i can't access the web archive at the moment ...
