1.5.6 next week

Hi all.

It's been a while since we've done a 1.5.x patch release, and there  
are a few changes which have been nominated in STATUS.  While 1.6.0- 
rc1 is soaking, we should publish a final 1.5.x release.  I'm planning  
on rolling 1.5.6 next week, on Feb. 25.  Please take a moment to  
review and vote on items in 1.5.x/STATUS.
