Help with slide

I need a  distributed file manager enabled with WEBDAV protocol. I
have been installing and configuring slide content management
framework recently. I have installed binary bundled with tomcat.  I
have questions:
1. Can i use database to authenticate users for slide framework and
provide each user a home directory.
2. In addition, my understanding is that security is tomcat enabled
with unencrypted password. Does slide have provision for encrypted
password.
Please help.
