Today I checked the links of those history releases, and found they are
updated with the archive links now. Not sure this happened automatically or
manually?

Yes. That seems like a good place.

First, we need to discuss and decide what we want to say.

Once that is decided, one possibility is to organize the downloads page with "active" and "archived" releases. Move all of the "archived" releases out of the dist folder (and update the url's which point to them… ;-).
