question for log4j

Hi,

I need to do syslog logging in an application. I am considering to use 
SyslogAppender for this.
I tried it and it works fine, but have the following questions:
1) Is SyslogAppender RFC compliant (e.g. RFC 3164)? The reason I ask this is 
that I could not find some explicit documentation
on this appender
2) Does SyslogAppender cover TCP as well? I found on this the following:
