[users@httpd] http problem

Dear All

i had been using apache web server for more than a year and its been
working fine

Red hat linux 8

apache version 2.0.40-8


but jus yesterday after a reboot apache refused to start with a error message

httpd: bad group name apache

i check the password n group file and apache user was there n it was perfect.

can anyone let me know the problem

Start "apachectl -X" under strace to see what syscall is failing.

But really, debugging a version that is that old is a waste of everyone's time.

btw there is a group call apache in /etc/group and also user apache in
/etc/password file

Sorry folks for this short email flood I just couldn't help myself and have
been contemplating trying that since the last one..  I'm having one of those
'morons piss me off' sorts of days (and sorry to anyone who identifies with
