Can't use parameter in Thread Group's Number of Threads

Summary: Can't use parameter in Thread Group's Number of Threads
           Product: JMeter
           Version: Nightly (Please specify date)
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Main
        AssignedTo: jmeter-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: martin123456789@hotmail.com

Build 2004-05-12... but I checked the most recent code and I think it's still a
problem.

I can't seem to use a variable (created using a user Parameter) in the Thread
Group's Number of Threads field. Maybe this was done by design but it was not
mentioned in the User's manual (I check chapter 3 (or 4; whereever Thread Group
is described) as well as the reference chapter).

When I use a variable the logs state that 0 threads are being started and
JMeter hangs.

See the attached test case for an example... You can replace the variable with
a number and watch the test run fine.
