Additional Information

I removed the directory that was giving me problems and revised the
'entries' file to comment out that directory (another CVS-based hack,
thought I'd try it). The update was successful until this point:

A longPath\Juna JavaDoc\API_javadoc\utcjam\dcx
\utc\jam\UTCException.html
svn: RA layer request failed
svn: REPORT request failed on '/svn/repos/ingenura/!svn/vcc/default'
svn: REPORT of '/svn/repos/ingenura/!svn/vcc/default': Error reading
chunked response body (http://server)

That's the same point, so I'm thinking the repo is perhaps pooched - a
colleague had a commit stall earlier today that we thought might have
caused this.

Is that helpful?
