(magpie) 01/01: perf(security-issue-fix): decide the fix flow, public-text scrub, backport and gates as code

This is an automated email from the ASF dual-hosted git repository.

potiuk pushed a commit to branch perf/security-5-fix
in repository https://gitbox.apache.org/repos/asf/magpie.git

commit 3794c82bc8bfdbb9e293b6ac0ee19b0d44e1f4c1
Author: Jarek Potiuk <po...@apache.org>
AuthorDate: Mon Oct 19 18:07:47 2026 +0200

perf(security-issue-fix): decide the fix flow, public-text scrub, backport and gates as code

A new issue-fix family in tools/security-management takes the rules of
security-issue-fix that are pure functions of their inputs: the fix flow
from magpie-vcs fix-flow, the forbidden-term check on every public
surface (branch, title, body, commit message, newsfragment, comments),
the backport labels, the plan confirmation, when the adversarial
reviewers run, the Subversion private-patch and publication gate, and
the recap. The fixability call, finding existing PRs, the plan, the code
and the PR body stay with the model.

The scrub reuses magpie_vcs.publication.scrub — the same check
    propose-commit runs — instead of a third copy of the 5c list;
security-management now depends on the magpie-vcs workspace member.
Reporter names, verbatim private tracker text and `security` as a word
in a branch name are added on top.

    SKILL.md becomes a router (7,435 -> 7,331 tokens); the Step 0 checklist
moved to outcomes/preflight.md behind a one-line summary of each check.
    The step-0-fix-flow, 5a, 5c, 5e, 5f, 6 and 11 suites become pytest
cases named after each former case (50 -> 31 model cases); the 31
    remaining cases pass.

    Behaviour changes:
    - A Subversion commit or new-branch command without --scrub is never
      shown.
    - A newsfragment is never proposed by default, and one carrying security
      framing is flagged.
    - The backport rule reads the next main release explicitly
(main_version) instead of inferring it from the milestone name.

    Part of #1672

 When the framework's secure setup is installed, the agent-guard `security-language` guard ([`guards/security_language.py`](guards/security_language.py)) also blocks a `gh pr create` / `gh pr edit` whose title or body carries a CVE ID, `security fix` or a vulnerability-class name.
It does not match the bare words `vulnerability` or `advisory`, which would block ordinary PRs everywhere the guard runs, so those rely on this manual check.

This is the same gate the Git flow applies before a public PR: the team's agreement on the fix from Step 3, plus, because on Subversion the commit is the publication, the team's **clearance to commit** this patch now.
Some projects commit a security fix only shortly before the release that carries it; [`<project-config>/fix-workflow.md`](../../../../<project-config>/fix-workflow.md#subversion-projects) says when.

+"""Steps 5a, 5c, 5f, 7 and 9: the forbidden-term check on every public surface.
+
+One check for the branch name, the commit message, the PR title and body,
+a newsfragment and a comment on `<upstream>`: the machine-checkable subset
+of the 5c list, from `magpie_vcs.publication.scrub` (CVE IDs and `CVE`,
+`vulnerability`, `security fix`, `advisory`, `security@`, the CVE-tool URL,
+`exploit`, vulnerability-class names), plus each reporter name and the
+private tracker text verbatim. A branch name also may not carry `security`
+as a word (5a). Tracker URLs and `#NNN` are not flagged: they are
+public-safe identifiers.
+
+What a pattern cannot see — exploitation detail, the *"sensitive"* wording
+of 5c — stays the model's check; a clean result is the floor.
+A newsfragment is not proposed by default for a security-adjacent fix; one
+carrying security framing is a violation either way.

+- `share` (Step 8): the patch goes to private surfaces only — attached to the

+ GitHub, which has no attachment API, a tracker comment in a `diff`
+ fence), a draft review request on the `<security-list>` thread, and a

+- `gate` (Step 9): only the user's answer clears publication (`cleared`); a

+ cleared → `stop`. Cleared, it runs `propose-commit`; a blocked proposal
+ (`ready: false` — scrub hits or paths outside `--expect`) shows no commit
+ command (`revise`); a ready one shows its commands, each carrying

-You are executing the commit/PR title neutrality check from Step 5c of the
-security-issue-fix skill from the Apache Magpie framework.
-
-Before presenting the implementation plan, the proposed branch name and PR
-title must be checked against the neutrality rules in Step 5c.
-
-## Neutrality rules for branch name and PR title
-
-The branch name and PR title must use neutral bug-fix / improvement language.
-They must NOT contain any of:
-
-- A CVE identifier (`CVE-YYYY-NNNNN`)
-- The words `CVE`, `vulnerability`, `security fix`, `advisory`, or `security`
-  as a standalone word (e.g. "security-fix" or "security fix" is forbidden;
- "improves asset security model" is also forbidden because it signals a
- security motivation)
-- The name of a vulnerability class, for example `SSRF`, `XSS`, `CSRF`,
- `SQL injection`, `path traversal`, `remote code execution`, `RCE`,
- `privilege escalation`, `auth bypass`
-- Any reporter name tied to a security finding
-- The word `sensitive` in a context that points at an unmasked-credential bug
-- Explicit exploitation detail spelled out in the title — a working payload,
- exact reproduction steps, or an exploit primitive
-
-Naming the affected component and describing the behaviour change in neutral
-terms (for example "restrict the connection test endpoint to the configured
-host allowlist", "stop deserializing XCom values with pickle") is **allowed**.
-Naming the vulnerability class is not: a class name such as `SSRF` or
-`path traversal` in a public branch or title tells every reader the change is
-a security fix. When listing `forbidden_terms_found`, include only the terms
-above that actually appear.
-
-Tracker URLs, `<tracker>#NNN`, and bare `#NNN` references ARE allowed —
-they are public-safe identifiers. The constraint is on security framing of
-the surrounding text, not on the identifier itself.
-
-Good examples (neutral, accurate):
-- "Fix asset graph view leaking DAGs outside the user's permissions"
-- "Add access_key and connection_string to DEFAULT_SENSITIVE_FIELDS"
-- "Improve xcom value handling in extra links API"
-
-Bad examples (reveal security framing):
-- "cve-2026-40690-xcom-fix" (contains CVE ID)
-- "Fix security vulnerability in connection test endpoint" (contains "security vulnerability")
-- "Patch advisory-tracked security hole in XCom" (contains "advisory" and "security")
-
-## Output
-
-Return ONLY valid JSON with these fields:
-{
- "branch_name": "<proposed branch name>",
- "pr_title": "<proposed PR title>",
- "branch_name_valid": true | false,
- "pr_title_valid": true | false,
- "forbidden_terms_found": ["<term>"],
- "recommendation": "<one-line fix if invalid, or 'looks good' if valid>"
-}
-
-`forbidden_terms_found` lists each specific term or pattern that violated
-the rules. Empty array when both are valid.
-
-Do not include any text outside the JSON object.
