[jira] Created: (XALANJ-2417) Publish Xalan 2.7.1 on Maven central repository

Publish Xalan 2.7.1 on Maven central repository
-----------------------------------------------

                 Key: XALANJ-2417
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XALANJ-2417
             Project: XalanJ2
          Issue Type: Task
          Components: Other
    Affects Versions: 2.7.1
            Reporter: Grzegorz Kossakowski

I would like to kindly ask Xalan developers to put 2.7.1 release into following directory:
/www/people.apache.org/repo/m1-ibiblio-rsync-repository/xalan

So it can be published on Maven's central repository.

Thanks in advance.

I would really appreciate it if the Xalan project could look into helping get this done.

Having my project based on Maven makes it really easy for new users to quickly get up to speed and build and deploy it, without having to manually track down all it's dependencies, etc. But until an updated version of Xalan is uploaded to the Maven repo, I am stuck using 2.7.0 (and it's corresponding Xerces 2.6.0), which are quite old now. With both Maven and Xalan being Apache projects, one wouldn't expect this to be such a problem.

Grzegorz:

Which files would you like there?

One can go here:
  http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/downloads.html
and follow the links to download things such as:
xalan-j_2_7_1-bin.zip
etc. etc.

I just wonder why you want a Xalan-J developer to copy this over to Maven rather than someone on the Maven team.

I filed an upload request:
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MAVENUPLOAD-1989

That said, normally apache projects upload their own artifacts by putting them in the correct location at:
/www/people.apache.org/repo/m2-ibiblio-rsync-repository/
(making sure they are properly gpg signed and stuff)

Once there, they usually appear on central withing about 6 hours and the world can then use it. It would be greatly appreciated if future releases could have that done.

xalan 2.7.1 has been put in the repo already, but this should be clarified for future releases so the xalan team can do it themselves
