[jira] [Commented] (TS-1822) Do we still need proxy.config.system.mmap_max ?

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TS-1822?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13648428#comment-13648428 ]

Leif Hedstrom commented on TS-1822:
-----------------------------------

Have you verified it with some large memory installation? The way this would manifest itself was an "out of memory" error, when we ran out of the (default) 50k mmap segments. I'd be curious to hear from e.g. Comcast or yahoo what the deal is?

Perhaps by chance this setting is related to Comcast's problem where they can't use the large (384GB) RAM for ram-cache?

> A long time ago, we added proxy.config.system.mmap_max to let the traffic_server increase the max number of mmap segments that we want to use. We currently set this to 2MM.
> I'm wondering, do we really need this still ?
