Confusion over rules dir?

Something broke for me in revision 359261.  

My rules are being installed in /usr/share/spamassassin yet spamassassin is
looking for them in /var/lib/spamassassin/3.002000

Is there some new config option to tell spamassassin where to look for
rules?  By default, shouldn't it look in the same place as the default
install location?

Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Removing /var/lib/spamassassin/3.002000 returned my desired behavior.
