Any newbie jira issues?

Hi all,

Is there any newbie jira issues for starters[1]? And would appreciate it if
you would give me jira permission, my jira ID is xleesf. Thanks.

Hi Leesf,
can you please try it now? Contributors should now have permissions to assign issues.

Hi Leesf,
I've just looked this up, it seems that the standard permission scheme in Jira does only allow committers and PMC members to assign issues. I found a page that explains the role-based permissions (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INFRA/Role+Based+JIRA+Authorization)

But there is an alternate permission scheme that allows also contributors to assign issues (which makes sense), so I create a Jira ticket here to change it:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/INFRA/issues/INFRA-19663?filter=allopenissues
Until then, I can assign you to any issue you want (you should already be able to create issues), just tell me!

If anyone thinks we should use the standard schema, just respond.

Dominik

RE: Any newbie jira issues?

Hi Leesf,
I've just looked this up, it seems that the standard permission scheme in Jira does only allow committers and PMC members to assign issues.

Hi Leesf,
great to hear you that you are interesting to contribute! I gave you jira permissions (contributor+developer), please try if it works.

We currently do not have explicit Jira issues for starters, but it's definitely on our roadmap now after we've nearly completed all the Apache transition issues.
However, I'm sure we can find some good starter issues that match your interests. So do you have any preference what you're interested in? More on the backend part (e.g., the wrappers), the UI side, developing pipeline elements for specific use case etc.?
I'll also be glad to help you in setting up a development environment, although there are some things mentioned in the documentation, there might be some things that are not adequately described in the documentation regarding the initial setup.

Best,
Dominik
