[jira] [Commented] (ATLAS-182) Add data model for Storm topology
elements
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ATLAS-182?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14936008#comment-14936008 ]
Venkatesh Seetharam commented on ATLAS-182:
-------------------------------------------
I started prototyping this last week and have arrived at 2 approaches to modeling the storm topology.
# Represent a topology as a coarse grained process node as don't in Hive. Topology node consists of the DAG, spouts and bolts.
The UI should work OOTB for this with additions to exploring the DAG
# Represent the DAG directly with each node in the DAG (spouts and bolts) pointing to the Topology for enabling searches.
I prefer option 1 as it provides a way to drill down deeper and keeping it at a coarse grained.
Thoughts?
