Best way to send large amount of data through RPC SOAP ?

What is the best way for sending large amount of data through RPC SOAP ?
WIll it be in the retrun value or as an attachment ? Or does it make no
difference ?

Since the SOAP response is XML data that needs to be parsed, sending
an attachment should be more efficient. It also depends a bit on the
type of data. A large binary response, base64 encoded and embedded
in a SOAP message, would be extremely inefficient. A block of records
containing text fields, OTOH, would be easier to handle in a SOAP
response.
