Bug: creation of subPanes corrupts the user's config

I have not used the latest CVS, but there appears to be a bug when using the
Customize HTML screens to create sub-tabs.

<summary>
Once you add subtabs to one of your main tabs, you can no longer
update any of the maintabs after the one with the subtabs. So be sure to
setup all your main tabs first. Then add subtabs starting with the
right-most
main tab.
</summary>

<steps>
I can reproduce this error using the BlueSunrise server (listed in the
Jetspeed->Sample Sites). Here are the steps which produce the problem:

Login to Jetspeed
Click the Customize HTML link
Add Pane - "MainPane-2"
Add Pane - "MainPane-3"
(There are now 3 panes listed: Home, MainPane-2, MainPane-3)
Click on MainPane-2
Select Layout=TabPane
Click left OK
Click Apply
Click Home link in the Navigatioin Frame
Click the MainPane-2 Tab
Click the Pencil on the right side of the line below the MainPane-tabs
You are now in the customize pane screen. Note that there is
NO mention that you are within MainPane-2
Click add Pane
Add SubPane-1
Click Add Pane
Add SubPane-2
Click the apply button.
You will now return to the browsing screens and see your
2 SubPanes listed under MainPane-2
Add a portlet to SubPane-1
Add a portlet to SubPane-2
<error>
Now try to add a portlet to MainPane-3: you CANNOT :/
Once you hit this error, your in trouble. I have found that even if I now
delete
panes and subpanes, I continually run into trouble adding and modifying even
basic panes and portlets. I have to delete the psml files for the user and
start
with a clean slate.
</error>
</steps>

Hi

Yes there is a bug when customizing sub panes. But you can always customize
change the layout and add new portlets by hand directly from
$JETSPEEDHOME\WEB-INF\psml\user\userX\html\default.psml file.

Thanks

Re: creation of subPanes corrupts the user's config

Posted by sbelt <sb...@velos.com>.
I just looked at Bugzilla: Bug#4146 appears to be reporting this problem or
similar (In this case, it was they could not add subTabs under MainTab-3).

That bug was updated to RESOLVED about one week ago.The SampleSite
page says BlueSunrise is updated roughly weekly, so the fix may not
have been updated on their site yet.

I would suggest updating to the latest CVS, then follow my steps (which
originally caused the bug) and see if this works okay now.

PS - I am not a jetspeed-developer; proceed with caution! (ie backups ;)
