[VOTE] Fall 2014 Summit

Hi all,

First off, thanks to everyone for participating in our Spring 2014 summit. We got some stuff done, and perhaps more importantly, we got some good ideas on how to make the next Summit better. The format going forward is going to be a mix of structure and unstructured meetings. Something like

	* Day 1: 6x 1h long presentations, prepared in advance. A CFP will be made for this. This is still a semi-open forum, so expect 1/3 of the time to be for Q&A.
	* Day 2: 3x 2h long design / brain storm sessions. This will still be guided / structured under guidance of a session chair, to keep the discussions relevant.

Now, the tricky part is the location. We’d like to try to keep this adjacent to a conference, as it turns out Velocity EU and ApacheCon EU are held the same week. So, the proposal at hand is to do the ATS Fall summit on November 20-21st (Thu-Fri). The three possible locations are Barcelona (Velocity), Budapest (ACEU) and Ireland (no conference, but fairly easy travel from the other events).

Please fill in the Doodle below, marking your Yes / No / Maybe’s. I’ll keep this open for at least a month, but please don’t lolligag. We’ll obviously keep the summit at one location.

Cheers,

— leif

I had to make some changes to the Doodle, with updated information from Velocity Conference program people (thanks Theo!). Here are the new options:

1. Thu-Fri 11/20-21 in Budapest. This is adjacent (after) ApacheCon EU.

2. Mon-Tue 11/17-18 in Barcelona. This is adjacent (before) Velocity EU.

3. Thu-Fri 11/13-14, Mon-Tue 11/17-18, Thu-Fri 11/20-21 or Mon-Tue 11/24-25 in Ireland. This is a little bit TBD, since we are not 100% sure we’d have someone to host this.

I added the additional options of doing it before or after both Velocity and ACEU in Ireland. This would allow some people a little more freedom around the conferences and the Summit (such as, you could theoretically participate in all three! :).

So, for those who already voted on the Doodle, please vote again. For those of you who didn’t (and you know who you are!), please vote. If we don’t reach critical mass of users and committers to participate in this Summit, we’ll either cancel it or move it to the US. So, I’ll keep the Doodle open for another month, but don’t waste your time, go vote now!

Cheers,

— Leif

Just informed in IRC that it's tutorials on Thu-Fri. Thanks Daniel!
