[VOTE] Apache Karaf Runtime 4.3.0.RC1 release
Hi all,
In the preparation to Apache Karaf Runtime 4.3.0 GA, I submit 4.3.0.RC1
release to your vote.
This release is not supposed to be production ready, it's the first RC
on 4.3.x series.
It supports OSGi R7 at "low level" (framework, resolver, ...). The
missing part to be fully R7 is Pax Web on which we are working. However,
I would like to give a chance to users to already start some tests and
provide feedback.
I already plan a RC2 before releasing 4.3.0 "official GA".
As it's a RC1, the Release Notes is not "official", but you have it
extracted from Jira

+1 (binding) from me. I checked the bundle consistency report
(assemblies/apache-karaf/target/bundle-report.xml) and it's OK.
I was also interested in how pax-logging 2.0.2 works and it's ok. I added
these to system.properties:
org.ops4j.pax.logging.useFileLogFallback = ${karaf.data}/log/pax-logging.log

I'm promoting the artifacts on Maven Central and dist.a.o. I will also
prepare announcement for website and mailing list.
I already inform you that a 4.3.0.RC2 is in preparation with new
features and improvements (around tooling, features json format, bundle
descriptor support, and much more). It will be submitted to vote very soon.
This RC1 was the first step on full OSGi R7 support, we are now heading
to second step.
