I guess you might be thinking of the change of some codes at {{DataSourceStrategy}} or making this with {{CatalystScan}}, right?
In case of {{CatalystScan}}, I opened the issue here already, https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-12126.
In case of {{DataSourceStrategy}}, We might need to deal with {{Cast}} first https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-9182.
