[jira] [Created] (HDFS-13920) Storage policy support in Erasure Coding

jagan created HDFS-13920:
----------------------------

Summary: Storage policy support in Erasure Coding
                 Key: HDFS-13920
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-13920
             Project: Hadoop HDFS
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: jagan

Currently we use storage policy in hadoop where we use an archival machine with higher storage to store the 2nd & 3rd copy or just the 3rd copy as part of optimization.

Post Erasure coding, hope storage policy will be supported and there will be options to place just the parity blocks in an archival server. This way the main read/writes wont be hitting the archival servers.
