I have a WIP from last summer up on github, rebased on to the current master: [busbey/hbase #1634eb7|https://github.com/busbey/hbase/commit/1634eb7071d33fb22f81b60c802c82bf3a43f090]

fair warning, it does not compile. mostly just does the file moves.
