config file, tomcat and log4j

Hello there

This is a little question regarding tomcat, and
logging while using it.

I am currently using Log4j with Tomcat with an
external log4j.properties file that holds logging
priority information(eg log only warn priority
statements and below or log only error priority
statments and above). Is there a way to alter this
file and make the alterations come into action without
needing to restart Tomcat? I seem to have to restart
Tomcat in order for the changes to take place!
