Tuning SpamAssassin

Hello,

i have set 5.0 points score in local.cf file, but i still receive lots of
spam.

I would like to know if every of the test listed in
http://eu.spamassassin.org/tests.html is run or if i have manually to enable
all test in my local.cf site-wide configuration file.

I also would like to know, if i use the autolearn feature, how can correctly
send a message from OutLook Express preserving the oringinal headers.

Thank you in advance for your interest, best regards.

Good one! Didn't know about that. Too bad we're still using LN5 here.

Lotus Domino server can also provide an IMAP access to mail databases
(they have first to be "converted" from plain LN format to IMAP
support). Domino IMAP server is disabled per default.

Just remember: if you forward a message in Notes, all headers (and more)
are gone!

i'm no notes specialist, just a notes user (at work).
however, i interactively re-learn messages as follows:

our LN6 clients offer a "source view" (menu: View->Show->Page Source).
this allows you to pull the message for re-learning. you'll probably want
to edit a couple of those headers, such as the "serialize" info,
especially, if your spamassassin engine is a gateway 'in front of' the
notes mail server(s).

LN5 clients don't offer the source view (at least not at our
environment).

possibly, you can use perl to extract the source view automatically and
without manual interaction.

on a somewhat similar note.. does anyone know how to pull a message from
~ Lotus Notes for purposes of re-learning as spam/ham?

That's a list of the default rules...

All of them are run, however, a few of them may be disabled depending on
what's installed on your system.

DCC_CHECK - requires dcc to be installed
RAZOR* - requires razor to be installed
         PYZOR* - requires pyzor

RCVD_IN_* requries the perl module Net::DNS to be installed

BAYES_* requires that bayes be enabled in your configuration AND a
sufficient amount of spam/ham be trained through the sa-learn tool.

I know NOTHING about OE, however, many have suggested the "resend" feature
works

Also, you appear to be confusing "autolearn" with non-automatic bayes
learning.

Autolearn is just that.. automatic.. you don't do anything at all, sa
decides for itself if it should learn the message as they come in. You
don't resend, redirect, or anything else for autolearning to occur.

Manual learning (ie: setting up a script to feed messages to sa-learn) is
when you might need to resend a message.
