Logging exceptions using a separate layout

Hello,

I would like to log events that have an exception so that the exception
and stack is printed on the nextline, but I do not want to get empty
lines between events in the log for all events that have no exception.

To achieve this, is there a way to filter parts of a layout? Or specify
a layout for events that have exceptions? Or something similar?

Help is greatly appreciated!
