JK3 roadmap?
Hi,
I have noted that nothing has happened in tomcat/connectors/trunk/jk3.
Nearly 2 months without real road map nor clear specifications, what is
wrong?
Cheers
Jean-Frederic

When I see the buzz to make mod_jk works on i5/OS, any initiative to
make jk fully APR, is greatly welcome !

APR-izing is something I am willing to do even to lead... (I am APR

Whenever I had a couple of hours I was doing small tests with scripting.
I think the most valuable first step would be the transformation to APR.
Unfortunately this is something I could hekp with, but I wouldn't want
to lead, because my experience with APR programing is only medium.
Once APR would be there, I would start working on management threads.
But APR is the necessary big first step (at least that's what I think) ...

Rainer

I would likely recommend is looking at the protocol 1st
and what aspects need to be adjusted or improved. And
then from that standpoint, add and improve the extra
features.

Just in case anyone likes to make his words persist: Mladen created a
roadmap file some weeks ago which includes the basic thoughts we
(Mladen, Jean-Frederic and me) had during ApacheCon about bigger JK
improvements.

I understand we're talking about the native side here. My opinion on
this is it's not an absolute necessity, as most of the time the proxy
server will have not much to do except handling the connection, so it
should be able to dedicate the necessary threads. Of course, except for
specialized event based web servers, it's not possible to get rid of the
thread/process per request, so there's a large feasibility issue.
On the Java side, I plan to adapt the o.a.coyote.ajp package to support
comet and save threads in Tomcat, which is easy to do since the
connector structure is the same as HTTP (actually, it's simpler). I will
do it when the API and code gets really stable for the HTTP connector.

Comet support, that means, keep the connection open to receive/send data
in either direction.
Able to turn off buffering, so that data can get transferred directly
during Comet connections.
That's one that I know people would like to see
