[OSSBot] A Project For Translation Services
OSSBot is a project for translation services both between channels and languages. The group is working with several open source communities in China to facilitate Chinese to English / English to Chinese text communication and WeChat and Mailing List synchronization. The group wishes to explore if it makes sense to form an Apache Project and, if so, what form of project that should be.
Several members of OSSBot have joined the mailing list, please introduce yourself.
Regards,
Dave

Hello Dave, and friends in this Petri dev mail list,
I hope you are doing well!
We are keeping improving the OSSChat project in the past weeks (see issues
<https://github.com/kaiyuanshe/osschat/issues>), and we currently have 7
projects who are using/testing the OSSChat, including 4 Apache projects, 1
Qihoo360 project, 2 Wechaty projects, and ourselves (see config
<https://github.com/kaiyuanshe/osschat/blob/05d96e8c43fdf8ad8071f7ad3744ca322a1c83a4/src/config.ts#L40>).
We also have an introduction video to show what OSSChat looks like and how
to use it (with 3 steps, see video
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNksCmm_pvY>)
Have a nice day!
BTW: the name "OSS Bot" was changed to "OSSChat" by the team voting, I hope
you like it. (see meeting notes <https://shimo.im/docs/wGHydDxvWGjWKgDK>)
Best,

Hi -
I saw a note on dev@doris today about testing this. I think that is excellent progress and look forward to those results.
Once that is done I think we can revisit whether or not this project remains an Kaiyuanshe project, goes through the Incubator, or is sponsored by Petri.

Hi Justin,
You can find our meeting minutes at https://shimo.im/docs/wGHydDxvWGjWKgDK,
and please feel free to add notes/comments to our agenda/questions, so that
we can know what you think about.
Currently, we can sync the GitHub issues to the Wechat group, which means
you can get a notification message card in Wechat when there's any GitHub
issue creation / commenting.
We are still in very early stage and you can find our feature list and
discussion from our GitHub repository at

I would be interest but it unlikely that I can join any real time meeting due to other work commitments (and usually time zone issues but I assume that may not be an issue in this case). Are the minutes of those meeting posted anywhere?
I would have expected each of those project to mention something in a recent podling report about this or perhaps seen something on their mailing lists, although I don’t follow them all.
Thanks,
Justin

Hello Dave,
Thank you for your email for pushing our project moving forward, and sorry
for the late reply because I have very limited time working on the emails
this week.
The OSSBot community includes the following three subgroups with 4
committers, 5 pilot projects, and 3 mentors:
1) Committers:
1. Zhuang Biaowei, Product Manager from Huawei technologies co. ltd
2. Rui, Wechaty Co-author, Founder of JuziBot
3. Huan, Tencent Chatbot TVP
4. Frank
2) Pilots (Apache Incubating Projects):
1. DolphinScheduler
2. Doris
3. IotDB
4. Sharding-Sphere
5. Weex
3) Mentors:
1. Junping Du, Chairman, Tencent Open Source Alliance
2. Craig L. Russell, Chairman, Apache Software Foundation
3. Ted Liu, Chairman, Kaiyuanshe
Our OSS Bot project is hosted on Github at
https://github.com/kaiyuanshe/oss-bot and we can find all detail about the
project over there, for example, our weekly meeting notes
<https://shimo.im/docs/wGHydDxvWGjWKgDK>.
We are very pleased to join as an external community with Petri, and
looking forward to following the Apache Way with the help of Petri.

Hi Rui, Huan and Ted,
Thanks for the introductions.
I’ll note for the Petri PMC Members on this discussion thread that the OSSBot team has been forming since mid-November and I think that they now qualify as an external community.
They currently operate on a WeChat group and have a weekly synchronous meeting at a time very inconvenient for me.
Huan - How many people would you count as members of the OSSBot community?

Dave

Thanks Dave and Ted, hi everyone,
I’m Rui Li, founder & CEO of JuziBot, serial entrepreneur, AI Microsoft
Valuable Professional (MVP). JuziBot is an Artificial Intelligence startup
specialized in building chatbot based on WeChat, helping companies to
acquire users better, increase conversion rate and provide better customer
service.
I started a WeChat chatbot community which gathers developers together to
discuss Chatbot easily. Currently, the community covers nearly 10,000
developers focus on chatbot in more than 10 counties, including China,
America, England, Australia, Canada and so on. Also, I’m co-authors of a
Chatbot Open Source Project -Wechaty(7k stars), which means to help people
make AI Chatbot on tops of WeChat Personal Account.
Recently, I'm going to publish a book 《Chatbot from 0 to 1》, aim to teach
developers how to build a chatbot more effectively.
I'm really glad to be the initial committer of the OSSBot project and wish
to help the bot run on WeChat more effectively.

Thank Dave for introducing the OSSBot project to Petri.
Hello guys,
My name is Huan, I'm a serial entrepreneur and active angel investor lives
in Beijing for over 20 years. I'm a Chatbot Tencent Valuable Professional

staff.
I build & maintain many open-source projects on GitHub, they are all
Apache-2.0 License, which including the Conversational RPA for Wechat -
Wechaty <https://github.com/wechaty/wechaty> (7K stars), A pythonic
dependency injection library - pinject <https://github.com/google/pinject>

I'm very happy to be the initial committer of the OSSBot project, and I
hope we can help the open-source projects to communicate in both Chinese
and English languages and between WeChat and Mailing List channels in ease.
