Looks fine to me, the autoconf is basically just one of the (possibly)
many Resource Processors the Deployment Admin may use, with the
difference that autoconf is in the mobile specification as well. This
structure leaves enough room for adding more resource processors at a
later stage if needed.

No, but contributions still need to go throw IP clearance, which is
handled by the incubator...or at least that is how it was explained to us.
Granted, I could be completely confused, but I am just trying to follow
the steps as I understand them.

Again, more info:
One of the Incubator's roles is to ensure that proper attention is
paid to intellectual property. From time to time, an external
codebase is brought into the ASF that is not a separate incubating
project <http://incubator.apache.org/projects/> but still represents
a substantial contribution that was not developed within the ASF's
source control system and on our public mailing lists. This is a
short form of the Incubation checklist, designed to allow code to be
imported with alacrity while still providing for oversight.
And:
The receiving PMC is responsible for doing the work. The Incubator
is simply the repository of the needed information. Once a PMC
directly checks-in a filled-out short form, the Incubator PMC will
need to approve the paper work after which point the receiving PMC
is free to import the code. *Note* that only lazy concensus is
required. The IP clearance template
<http://incubator.apache.org/ip-clearance/ip-clearance-template.html>
contains more details of this process.

This is taken directly from the IP clearance template:
* Post a message to general@incubator prefixed [IP CLEARANCE] asking
for clearance to be checked. Sign off is by lazy consensus so wait
at least 72 hours for a -1.
* Post a [RESULT] to close the thread and let the project know that
the code has been cleared for import.

Not that I'm itching to push this through but a 72 hour cooling period
for IP clearance is new to me and I have pushed through a few
contributions. It is my understanding is that once the office ACKs
the paperwork receipt the contribution is good to go.

We cannot commit, because we are still in the "ip clearance" phase...it
has taken a little while, but we just finished the last step yesterday.
This means we have to wait 72 hours to make sure that no one objects to
any IP issues before committing.

Autoconf location (was: Re: [jira] Created: (FELIX-452) Deployment
Admin contribution)
Posted by Christian van Spaandonk <ch...@luminis.nl>.
Hi all,
in the past there was some discussion on the location of
deploymentadmin and autoconf (and in the future maybe: more resource
processors, maven-deployment-package plugin, ...). I am currently
working on an autoconf implementation and getting close to something
committable.
What dir structure should we use? I am fine with the structure proposed
a while ago by Felix (see below), what do you think?

Hi Marcel,
The software grant seems to have been registered 26. Nov 2007. So I
think it would be save to commit it.
As I also want to also work on the autoconf stuff, we might have the
following structure:
felix/trunk
+- deploymentadmin
+--- service
+--- autoconf
+--- ....
WDYT ?
Regards
Felix
