1.0.1-rc3 src distribution

hi,

apologies if this an old question but the archive link doesn't work: the 
src distribution doesn't appear to contain the descriptors subproject. 
is there a partcular reason for this or is it just an omission ?

Yes, this is a documented - unintentional - omission.  B/C of this we 
have turned around rc4 rather quickly.  A test build has been posted to 
http://cvs.apache.org/dist/portals/pluto/v1.0.1-rc4/ and I plan to post 
results of the vote (currently 3 +1s) tomorrow.  Once posted, I will 
sign the distributions, publish the release pubically, and send out an 
announcement.  Feel free to use the "unofficial" version until then.
