Exim with Spamassassin and mimedefang
I want to setup a SMTP relay filtering SPAM and viruses. The relay will relay the mail to my Exchange server. Is there well documented HOWTOs on setting this up using Exim, Spamassassin, Mimedefang and a good virus scanning software? I see HOWTOs using sendmail but I want to switch to Exim or am I just making things hard?

Recent versions of Exim come with support for SpamAssassin and anti-virus
software built in. See the section in the documentation about Content
Scanning.

If you are going with exim, you'll want to run sa-exim which allows for sa
scanning at smtp. It's also a hell of alot faster than piping the messages
through spamassassin with a transport. there are several how-tos out there
for setting it up with amavis virus scanner.

Hi,
I can give you the 411 on doing it with qmail and simscan. I setup a
few servers each week for clients in exactly that situation.
And you should fix your email client to wrap, the reply comes out all on
one line.

Rick

It doesn't use mimedefang, but here:
http://slett.net/spam-filtering-for-mx/index.html is an excellent
resource for setting up SA with Exim. Highly recommended.

Mimedefang uses the milter interface of sendmail. It won't work with
exim.
