[jira] Created: (DBCP-240) Broken link for 'Naming' project in docs
Broken link for 'Naming' project in docs
----------------------------------------
Key: DBCP-240
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DBCP-240
Project: Commons Dbcp
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Luis Parravicini
Priority: Minor
The page at http://commons.apache.org/dbcp/guide/jndi-howto.html talks about Naming, with a link to http://directory.apache.org/subprojects/naming/index.html which gives a 404. Moreover, I couldn't find the Naming subproject from Apache Directory, it seems it doesn't exist anymore.

Niall Pemberton commented on DBCP-240:

Its still there in directory's site structure, but something is preventing it being seen. And in svn its in their "dormant-subprojects" area:

Naming is effectively dead and there is really no more practical need for it since the tomcat naming jars are separately available.

Phil - did Naming die?
Should we bring it into Commons?
